30 Days, 30 Cards Day 3

Welcome back to 30 Days, 30 Cards brought to you by the lovely design team at Memory Works!  If you've been following this from day one you know the drill... we have a card sketch or map and from this we draw our inspiration for our card.  We can flip the design, use different shapes what ever we want to make this card uniquely ours.  So, here is the sketch for today...

And here is my card...

I really hope that you are inspired to create your own cards this year for Christmas.  I am having so much fun and have good intentions of making about 50 cards this year so I can give everyone a hand made little gift.  See you tomorrow!

30 Cards In 30 Days

Over at the Memory Works Blog they are having a really fun time.  Each day one of the very talented ladies on the Design Team will be presenting a sketch for a Christmas Card and their take on the sketch.  I am really excited to participate in this again. Last year I was able to make 25 cards to send out for Christmas.  This year I am priviledged to be a member of the design team and also participate in this fun challenge.  I am hoping to make at least 50 cards this year.

Here is the sketch that Christine used for inspiration and my take on this sketch.  You can see Christines card at the Memory Works Blog.  This challenge is open to Memory Works consultants and customers alike.  I hope you are inspired to create your own handmade cards.

Happy creating and be sure to check back tomorrow for a new sketch and card!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month!  Over at Craft-e-Corner they are having a special "Craft Pink" Series for October on their blog.  They have invited members of different design teams to create a project using pink products that can be purchased at their online store and they will post them all sometime in October.  I made a paperbag album using Bo Bunny Little Miss papers and stickers. These papers are available from Memory Works and you can contact me if you want to get your hands on these adorable papers and stickers.

My paper bag mini album will be featured on their blog on October 10th.  I hope you stop over there and check them out.  They also are having a giveaway,  click here to find out more about this great month long project and their awesome giveaway.

I used my sewing machine to add some zig zag stitching for texture.  I really had fun making this little album and I'm thinking of giving it to a special friend for her October birthday.  Shhh don't tell.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and stay tuned for some exciting holiday events coming up in the next few months!

Express Kit Monday

I am so excited to share this months Memory Express Kit with you.  I had a ton of fun with this kit!  Last month Memory Works celebrated its 10th birthday and one of the challenges was to create a layout with a picture that was at least 10 years old.  After going through my stacks of old pictures I was inspired to use some of them on layouts for this months Express Kit.  I made two 12 x 12 layouts, four cards and an altered tri-fold folder and I still have so much product left to have more fun with.

The first projects I'd like to share with you are the two layouts I did.  The first one is me and a friend at Grad Night in Disneyland, May 1975.  I'm sad to tell you that this was the last time I have been to Disneyland!  I hope to remedy this soon!.

This next layout is from 1966!  The pictures are of my dad and my two brothers getting ready to fish.  I love these pictures!  Scrapping with black and white pictures is so much fun because you can use just about any colors you want and they won't clash with your photos!

Next Monday I will be sharing the four cards I made with this kit.  I don't want to spoil the fun over on the Memory Works Blog so, you will just have to be patient.  LOL

Thanks for stopping by today and please leave a comment to let me now you were here.

Happy Birthday Memory Works Blog Hop!

Hello and welcome to the Memory Works Birthday Blog Hop!  If you arrived here from  Kelly Holbrook's blog you are in the right place.  Memory Works turns 10 this month and we are celebrating!  Today we are having another fun blog hop.  I am so excited to be here to celebrate with you all and  I  hope you draw some inspiration for your next birthday celebration.  For today's hop I used several different product lines to create my projects for the birthday.  First off I decided that you can't have a party if you don't invite anyone so here is an invitation to my garden party!  I used pink cardstock, and elements from the Simple Stores Fabulous line. I die cut the large dragon fly using my sizzix and the small dragon flies are a punch I have.

And of course once you accept an invitation to a party you need to bring a card so I created a really simple birthday card using cardstock, two stamps from Stampin' Up and some scraps from the May Memory Works Express Kit...

As the hostess I want to make sure my guests feel welcome so I created treat boxes to give each guest that I will fill with goodies.  For this treat box I used a fast food french fry box as a pattern then I embellished with patterned cardstock, sticker letters and chipboard stickers.

The final item for my garden party is a drinking straw label so guests don't mix up their drinks.  I used scraps for this project and letter stickers to personalize.

There will be a *prize for one lucky winner ! Leave a comment at each blog you visit along the hop for more chances to win! You have until midnite to leave your comments. Winner will be announced on the Memory Works blog on Wednesday, June 27th. *Prize is sponsored by Memory Works. Thank you again for joing us today for our birthday blog hop.  Below is a list of all the blogs participating so you can visit everyone!  Be sure to leave a comment on my blog because I will be giving away a prize at the end of the hop.  If you are not already a follower of my blog I'd love to have you start following me.

Scraptuary Reveal!

I'm so excited to actually be able to use my litte crafty cottage!  Back in February we had an 8' x 10' Tuff Shed building installed. This is what the building and yard looked like back then.  Since this picture we have added a vegetable garden on the other side of the building and the beautiful fruitless mulberry tree has sprouted leaves and shades the side of the building beautifully!

The inside of the building looked like this.  You can see the quality of the construction. The building is built just like a house.

Here is what my  little crafty cottage looks like in the shade and you can see the veggie garden.  I love how the tree shades the east side of the building for the whole day.

The long slow process of moving my stash from the master bedroom in the house out to the cottage has been interesting.  I am actually finding items that I had forgotten about.  It's almost like Christmas in June!  I am getting things organized and put away.  I have repurposed three pieces of furniture from my house that I thought I was going to have to get rid of.

This tiered wire basket holds several of the mini albums I have made over the years.

My wonderful sister-in-law Becky gave me this oak sofa table to use in my little cottage.  It works great to hold my wire crates.

The little shelf with the glass jars was made by Dewayne in a high school wood shop class.  For years it hung in my mother-n-laws kitchen and when Dewayne made her a new wood and iron shelf she was going to throw this out.  I saved it and have used it for many different purposes.  My plan is to paint it black so it stands out on the Ocean Breeze wall!.  The jars hold some of my ribbon supply.

This cabinet in a former life was a video cabinet but it works great to hold various supplies.  I am glad that I was able to keep these pieces and find new uses for them.

This shelf was originally hanging on the wall in my living room in Las Vegas but again, no room in the new house in Fowler so... repurpose!  I am going to remove the two pictures of my children and put them back in their albums and then I will create two small layouts to put in their places.  Again the shelf holds jars of ribbons and the three jars hanging from the hooks are from my friend Karen that I used to work with in Las Vegas.  I need to see if I can get another one from her to fill the last hook.  I really like the way they look hanging below.  Again these jars hold ribbons!  I have more ribbon to organize and figure out what to do with.

The cabinet below has glass shelves in it and stores my sizzix and cricut.  On the top two shelves I have displayed some small little nic nacs that have sentimental value to me.

I am repurposing the dollhouse that I built  to also hold supplies.  I may end up using this space to display small framed pictures but again, a work in progress.

I am so happy that you stopped by today to see my little scrappy cottage and I will update pictures as I finalize the space and get organized.
